Jim O'Brien Finally Gets His Chance!

The Ottawa Senators have recalled C Jim O'Brien from there AHL affiliate in Binghamton, ahead of their matchup in Columbus tonight.

O’Brien, 21, has 12G 13A 27PIMs and is a +10 in 33 games with Binghamtom this season. He was a 1st round selection of Ottawa back in 2007, 29th overall.

At this point of the season, and with Jason Spezza out long-term, it's important for the Ottawa Senators to take a look at what their prospects can do.  I'm very happy that O'Brien is finally getting his shot.  Hopefully guys like Butler (again), Greening, Condra, Daugavins, Wick, and Gryba will get a look sooner, rather than later.

Sens Lay an Egg...

The Ottawa Senators lost 4-0 tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes.  This was the team's first game minus Jason Spezza in the lineup, but still, the team completely mailed this one in.

As such, so will I.

The Senators next game is on New Year's Eve, when they visit the Columbus Bluejackets.

Six Points Out

The Senators will look to build on a big win against the Pittsburgh Penguins, when they take on the Carolina Hurricanes at Scotiabank Place.

The Sens are currently six points behind Montreal for 8th place in the Eastern Conference standings.  A win tonight would be huge for a team that will playing their first game without their #1 Center, Jason Spezza, for at least six weeks.

Zack Smith will replace Spezza in the lineup.

Projected Lines:
Michalek-Regin-Kovalev
Foligno-Fisher-Alfredsson
